So I am Running for City Council

VOTE BRIAN DUCKLINSKY for South Saint Paul City Council 2026

Hello my name is

Brian Ducklinsky

I am running for the South Saint Paul

City Council in 2026

I will be adding youtube videos and facebook entries over the summer, and will be door knocking as much as my work schedule allows. I am better at audio visual presentation then writing long articles, so I will focus on meeting as many people as I can in person and posting short update videos often.

Let me start with some reasons

NOT TO VOTE FOR ME

I am not a polished and successful man nor am I the best dressed or most attractive, I am missing two front teeth from years of drinking too much pop, and not being able to afford a dentist. I wear my old clothes way too long and I am far from fashionable, and most likely will have cat fur on them. I don't even own a suit, I never needed one for any of my jobs, and do not think a nice suit equals better.

I have been a poor to middle class man my whole life, I have tried to start and run businesses but have largely failed, I even went to jail once on what I would claim is a false charge but pled guilty, so I could focus on taking care of my mom. I dont have a lot of money I don't have a fancy house or a high paying job, and i misspell words.

I voted for Donald Trump three times and while I don't agree with everything he says or does, I mostly believe he is well intentioned and trying to do what he thinks is right for America.

While the city council is non-partisan and many issues do not come down to left or right, some in this town will not like my stances.

I believe in a small government, I think there are too many taxes and too many laws, while I am not an anarchist and that there is a need for some government set limits, the question is how much??

If I had a magic wand and could reform government to the most ideal fashion, I would dissolve the federal government and all 50 states governments, I would make the largest government be the county government, all taxes would be collected by cities and or counties and they would send some money to the states and federal entities as they saw fit, only local laws could be enforced, state and federal levels could only suggest not enforce.

NOW I REALIZE THIS WILL PROBABLY NEVER HAPPEN, AND THERE ARE PROBABLY PROBLEMS THAT WOULD OCCUR IF IT DID, BUT MY POINT IN BRING THIS UP IS WE SHOULD GO MUCH CLOSE TO BOTTOM UP THAN TOP DOWN.

Even if I get elected I will be one of six council members and still need to deal with county, state and federal laws, I will never get my way for everything. I can't promise you anything but my voice and my vote to try to support what I believe is right.

SO IF ALL OF THE ABOVE AS NOT YET SCARED YOU AWAY FROM THINKING ABOUT VOTING FOR ME, BRIAN DUCKLINSKY FOR SOUTH SAINT PAUL CITY COUNCIL IN 2026, THEN LET ME TELL YOU MORE ABOUT MYSELF.

I was born and raised at the same house on Annapolis Street that my family has owned for nearly 80 years. My mother Corinne Ducklinsky was a single mom and my Grandma and Grandma helped raise me.

I was born in 1977 and went to South Saint Paul HS until I graduated in 1995.

SOME THINGS OF NOTE THAT I DID

In 1993 I helped save the Stock Yards Exchange Building. One of the city council members had said he wanted the building demolished if something didn't happen in a year. I started making phone calls, I called Armours and Wells Fargo (fka Stock Yards National Bank) and others who had ties to that building, with little success. I later called Dwayne and Martha Hubbs who owned the Lumber Barons Hotel in Stillwater and helped to convince them to get involved, and they did. They bought it and remodeled it, turning it into The Castle Hotel. They did not last long for financial reasons, but the building was saved.

In 1996 I bought for pennies on the dollar the old Divemasters Subs (fka McLain's) I moved it up the street to a new location because it had a dining room, I didn't have enough money or experience to make it last, but I tried and later tried again with a new store in West Saint Paul, again not enough money and that didn't last long either, but I learned from each experience and would do it again if time and money ever allow.

I drove a school bus from 1996 until 2006 and a few times after that, for 20 of the last 30 years I have been a school bus driver, with a few breaks to try other jobs and launch my own business.

In 2006 I started working in radio for Marriage Builders Radio with Joyce and Dr Bill Harley, we recorded out of the KKMS studio in Eagan where I also covered other shows including, Jan Markell, Tom Brock, Brad Brandon and others. It has been a long standing dream of mine to own radio stations and my rwnb.com website explains much of those goals. You can also check out my short book about Ole and Emma In Da Mornin from Holikow Minnesota to get an idea for my heart for radio. rwnb.com/oleandemma/

In 2012 I hosted two clean comedy events in Albert Lea and Mankato. The original goal was a comedy challenge to air on the radio, and also to get new and existing acts a venue. I had experience with Flea Markets and hope to launch my own flea markets with plenty of family friendly fun and games along with clean comedy and other events, but that takes a lot of money and credit or a willing building owner that will help you.

from 2016 to 2024 I lived in Wichita with my mom so she could get out of the cold, we had to return to the family house for financial reasons.

I continue to drive school bus, and dream of the radio, food, comedy and entertainment business I may someday own.

IF I GET ELECTED I HOPE TO

Focus on ways to help SSP get more small business and keep the ones we have, anything the city can do to lower taxes and regulation it should do, and I will advocate for that. Additionally I will look for ways to help individuals with taxes and regulation, knowing I am only one person with one vote but if my voice can help change minds that is what I will do.

REGARDLESS IF I WIN OR NOT

I want to try to get the city to establish a flea market in the city to attract both small businesses and visitors.
